Mission Statement

New Priory Press was founded in 2013 by the Dominican Friars of the Province of St. Albert the Great in Chicago. Its purpose is to promote the scholarship and publication of works that foster the province’s Dominican intellectual heritage and to provide serious scholarship in accessible form to adult Catholics.

Retreats

We are pleased to say that many of our books are ideal for personal or community retreats. We are happy to help you see what might be worthwhile for your needs. For example:

We We Walk by Faith is a collection of seven journeys drawn from the New Testament reflecting on the spiritual journey.

Barefoot Journeying is like a modern-day "confession" of St. Augustine. This is a perfect book for a long retreat, or perhaps best used during Lent. In it, we see how the Spirit slowly fashions a vocation and guides one home to God.

Saint Thomas Aquinas: A Biography for Young Readers is a great text to use with teens or young adults as a retreat, allowing them to know more about this holy saint through the stories of his life.

The Cobbler and the Cricket and Other Tales of Faith is an engaging way to reflect on one's own faith life through these short little stories. They are kind of parables for today.
